Timberon Extension Club
The Timberon Home Extension Club
has 19 members and was organized by the women of
this community 21 years ago and was originally
affiliated with the Otero County Extension Service.
Six years ago it was decided to discontinue their
association with the county organization and today,
is in independent club actively involved in
beautifying, improving, and supporting Timberon.
Most involvement in larger projects is done in cooperation with all
the organizations and service clubs here. The
community cemetery, the picnic area and the Fourth
of July parade are examples of this cooperation. At
the annual Christmas program, sponsored by the
Timberon Chapel, the ladies make gifts to be given
to all the children in the community.
In their continuing effort to be of active relevance to Timberon,
this club has arranged for many fine speakers who
have shared their knowledge of this area. We’ve had
Sacramento Mountain archeologists, historians and
bird, plant, and wildlife experts who have shared
their areas of expertise. Arts and crafts are also
often part of the monthly program. One of the great
benefits enjoyed from working and meeting together
is the friendships shared..
The Extension Club meets on the third Thursday of each month at
10:15am in the Timberon Lodge, 1 Bob White Circle.
